Day 1. Cake delivered - Mum unpacked the cake and put it in the freezer.
Day 2. 08.00 Cut cake into quarters and left one quarter to defrost in the fridge, early evening tea-time cut the one quarter into thirds and ate one .
She found the cake nice but a little too firm.
Day 3. Dinner-time she put the second piece of cake from the fridge into a biscuit tin along with a slice of bread and half an apple...
Day 4. Dinner-time the cake was nice and soft !

ps. this is what she remembers people used to do 1930's/40's/50's etc. with cakes/biscuits that had gone too firm or stale; as opposed to these days when they'd just be thrown away !
